News | Doctor Who stars David Tennant & Arthur Darvill cast in ITV’s Broadchurch

We know next to nothing about upcoming series Broadchurch, and tend to stay away from ITV when we can help it, but news that Doctor Who stars (though they have never appeared together on-screen) David Tennant and Arthur Darvill, have both joined the show.

It will be an eight-part drama with an ensemble cast also containing Rev‘s brilliant Olivia Colman, This is England star Vicky McClure, Will Mellor, and Jodie Whittaker. The story will follow a police investigation in a small town which has become an national sensation over a boy’s mysterious death.

Tennant will be DI Alex Hardy, an out-of-town detective called in, which Darvill, who is leaving the BBC show half-way through series seven, will play priest Paul Coates.

ITV’s Laura Mackie says, “Broadchurch tells the story of a small community and the devastating emotional repercussions for everyone caught up in the mysterious death of a young boy. It’s not a ‘whodunit’ or a traditional police drama. Chris Chibnall’s superb scripts have attracted a stellar cast.” [Digital Spy]
