There was more anticipation for the Community panel at Comic-Con this morning than most, as the action over the summer has thrown everything up in the air. The cast have only just met with new showrunners Moses Port and David Guarascio about new episodes, so season 4 scoop is thin on the ground, but here’s what we learnt.
Addressing fears about the shake-up behind the scenes, Guarascio said: “A couple months ago we were a lot like most of you, just huge fans of the show… Suddenly now we’re here, helping to keep it going. The only thing we care about is keeping it this weird, wonderful gem… and that’s not going to change.”
Port added to those sentiments with: “It’s also not us coming in and taking it on by ourselves. It’s the best cast on television… What I mean to say is, we won’t screw it up. We promise.” This all sounds like brilliant news, and quells a lot of our initial fears about a sans-Dan Harmon Community. However, the whole cast might not be graduating next year as was originally planned.
“There’s a way to be true to the show … where the series will keep going even if they’re not [in college] all at the same time. They’ve become this family that will still exist together without changing the dynamic of the show.”
In terms of relationships, both Jeff and Dean, and Britta and Troy’s, will be explored further: “It is, for a lot of the characters, their senior year. That gives us the opportunity to explore some relationships — one of which might be the Dean and Jeff.
“We’re going to get to see Pierce’s mansion [and] the twisted world in which he lives. “We are also going to get to go to an Inspector Spacetime convention…. Everyone [in the group] is going to go!” This sounds amazing! Now we can’t wait to go along with them. [TV Line]
